Blog 1

“What is writing?” is one of those questions that have infinite answers.  Some may say that it is a boring and useless hobby; others may believe it to be one of the most liberating and creative forms of art.  The beauty of writing is that it is the visual representation of thoughts and experiences, all settled into combinations of words, which create sentences that, represent the ideas.  I find it amazing as a reader, that writing can be a gateway to the author’s mind.  A remix is the transformation of something that already exists.  It is transformed into something “better” while using the previous object or idea as a base for the transformation.  Both writing and remixes go hand in hand.  A writer may use influences from other writers to create their own style, simply because we learn from copying.  We pick and chose what we like from what we learn and chose to present as our “original idea”, but in reality it is just a combination of what we have learned from other people.   My expectations for this course are to see things in a new light, find inspiration in others’ art and have a fun while doing so. I hope to gain a large amount of information that I can use in the rest of my college time, learn ways to approach topics for papers, and ways to become a better writer.
