Blog Post 1

Writing is simply organizing thoughts into a physical form, which others are able to read. Writing can take all sorts of forms, serving as an outlet for emotions, a source of information, and even entertainment. Writings are passed down to broaden the horizons that someone’s perspective reaches, inspiring others. Something becomes a remix when people take ideas from others and transform them into a version of their own. Remixing is not plagiarizing; it is simply a metamorphosis of ideas. One could argue that everything is a remix, branching off the ideas of others that we have observed throughout life. Writing, for example, is frequently remixed because people observe the style, ideas, perspective, etc., of writers when they read the writers’ pieces. After, people utilize what they have read and can incorporate aspects of the writing they enjoyed into their own pieces. In ENC 1102 I expect to become a master “remixer”. I expect to improve my writing skills by taking what I learn, as in drafting, editing, and organizing, and applying them to my original pieces. Although I may be looking to gain a liberal arts credit, I believe writing is an important trait to master in life because we use it on a daily basis. I hope to gain a sense of who I am as a writer and discover the form of writing I enjoy most. With this discovery, I will grow more confident in my writing and be able to apply my skills to the career path that I choose.
