Blog 1 Writing and remixes

Human beings all perceive the environment around them differently. Art, in all its forms, creates different feelings to each person due to this phenomenon. The world cherishes all writing for this reason. Written word acts a form of expression, it also creates a different world the reader can delve into. The interpretation of a piece of writing can always be different between the readers. In the past writing, along with word of mouth, was a form of passing down legends and history. Due to the worlds different perspectives people often changed, or remixed, written work. The bible, for example, was translated and changed plenty of times. In our world, new ideas form constantly adding to society. Remixes and writing are largely correlated with each other. With new ideas and stories flaring up from old ones, books, art, and music hint minor details that resemble old work. These "remixes" add to future inspiration. This does not mean that all writing is simply copies of the past. The world has taught people to transform ideas and create new ones with old information. Saying that nothing is original would be a broad statement that wouldn’t be entirely true, mostly because many new ideas really can be original. Writing in the social world today largely depends on perspective and previous ideas that help add to tales. This course will create a better understanding of how to use old ideas to remix new writing. However, there is a fine line between changing a minor detail to benefit ones story, and stealing full ideas. I expect this course to be fun, but tedious helping students to better their writing skills, and become more open minded and creative about details that can shape their writing for the better.
