Blog #10

I have a few ideas for my final blog post but this one particularly stands out. If you've noticed recently the smoking ads have been quite effective and rather disturbing, causing the percentage of people who smoke to drive downwards. I feel like a similar technique could be used except for intoxicated driving. If people were constantly reminded like the smoking commercial of the consequences and how it affects everyone around them then the percentage would decrease significantly. Sure there are ads against drunk driving but I feel as they're not as effective nor as often and are often dismissed. The audience would be the entire population, if possible. The exigence would be to decrease the percentage of intoxicated driving, not just drunk driving. A constraint may be the people who have only had a 'few' drinks or don't feel that intoxicated and disregard the warning signs or possible dangers. The genre would be about the safety, not only yours but the innocent bystanders and the people within the vehicle as well. Modes used could be advertisement a i had said before, the smoking ads are really effective and rather disturbing but help get the point across quite effectively. Posters as well, humans are rather forgetful and need constant reminders in order to be well aware of the danger, so the more advertisement or flyers, posters etc that one see, the more likely they are to enforce the rule. I've actually personally been in a vehicle where the driver was high and we turned into a lane of oncoming traffic where there was a truck and a few cars headed directly for us. Luckily they saw us in time and stopped before we had gotten into an accident that wouldn't have been pretty.
