For this genealogy project I have focused on 3 different ideas in terms of finding a semiotic unit.
The first is based on the 1985 film, "The Breakfast Club" and the idea that there are these these kids from different social classes and completely different lives that soon come to find out underneath their social appearances they share the same problems and the same pressures. Certain aspects of this movie can be found throughout novels and other films such as "Mean girls", a movie that displays these different social classes such as the geek, the jock, the popular girl, the outcast and the bad boy, "High school Musical" and the 2012 film "The Perks and being a Wallflower".
My second idea would be based on a 1965 duet between Sonny & Cher, "I got you Babe". A duet such as this has sparked a multitude of male/female collaborations. All centralizing down to love and relationships, like Elton John & Kiki Dee's 1976 hit single, "Don't go Breaking my Heart" going forward all the way to Chris Brown & Jordan Sparks' 2008 song, "No Air".

The third and final idea for this genealogy project would be seen through the original 1937 Disney movie, Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs, it has been changed and morphed into different interpretations over the years. Such as "Snow White and Huntsmen", "Mirror Mirror" and even in the hit television series "Once Upon a Time". Some aspects such as the the fair skin and dark hair have been consistent but the dwarfs and the Evil Queen have been dramatically remixed throughout each film. I hope that these three ideas give me somewhat of a strong foundation for what my semiotic unit may be.
