Blog Post 3

Johnson-Eilola and Selber have a very cultured look at assemblage for writing. They pretty much argue that because all other things are remixed in society (i.e. songs, webpages) that it isn't inappropriate to look at writing in the same way. Specifically their view was that others should be able to use already published writings in different ways to answer different questions. This can be seen as some as plagiarism, but Johnson encourages teachers to look past it and see its practical learning uses. Plagiarism is seen by some as the blatant copying of another's work, where no input is actually added to the work, where originality is adding ones specific point of view to answer a question. To be honest, the genealogy project is the perfect example of using my research from other websites and putting it into the genealogy setting. One thing I am not sure about is how dissecting and paper and rearranging the words is supposed to make a person a better writer.
