In the text it explains that
genre connects everything together in order to form multimodality. The multimodality
ties the producers, composition, setting, and everything else all into one to exemplify
the effect of the genre. It categorizes works of media with the audience. Such
as, categorizing happy people with upbeat music or people who are depressed with
a movie about depression or drama. My view of multimodality is a form of
media that shows a form of an opinion or context by using some sort of media.
My view of genre is what the category of that context falls under, such as,
horror, etc. The actual definition of multimodality is "a theory of
communication and
social semiotics". Multimodality describes communication practices
in terms of the textual, aural, and visual resources - or modes - used to
compose messages. The actual
definitions of genre is a "category of artistic composition, as in
music or literature, characterized by similarities in form, style, or subject
matter. "The relationship between multimodality and genre in my
eyes is that the genre of the context has an impact on the multimodality that
you use. The sound effects, images, and word choice provided in each form of
multimodality. It could be a book, story, video, music, newspaper, etc. For
example, if I used a horror story and turned it into a video and used a lot of
sound effects with a deeper tune to exemplify the genre horror then it would
draw the audience in more. Genre theory focuses on audience and the effects
that multimodality and genre have on them.
