As defined in the text, genre is the typical forms of texts which link kinds of producer, consumer, topic, medium, manner and occasion. With that definition it seems that the relationship between multimodality and genre is one that would be very close. When I think of modes, I think of all the different types of way information can be passed along.  Compared to when I think of the word genre, I think of the different categories inside each mode.  So for example, if the mode is music, music has many different genres from country, rap, jazz, and many others. Music passes information to its listeners but there is not just one type of music there are many types and what each person listens to is based off of what they like.  So different genres are made through time to pass information to people through their most desired form. Another example of the two would be found in a library. The mode is books, which is a very broad category. So genres are made to break down the mode into subsections and meet specific needs to pass information to readers. The genres can be anywhere from fiction, non-fiction, fantasy, even to picture books and rhyming books for kids. The same information can be passed in a non-fiction story to an adult and a fable book passes the information to a child. Therefore multimodality and genre have a very close relationship without genres modes would be very bland and boring and wouldn’t pass information to all because it wouldn’t be in the form necessary it needs to be in to reach all intended targets.
