Mystery is part of a large genre that covers films, literature, music, and many more.  It was difficult for me to find valuable articles that could help me express the concept of mystery in a type of remix.  This is what I found, 

Pushing Boundaries by Chadwick Kristi

In this article, it is determined that woman are more interested in this genre.  That this genre is driven by women who enjoy what the call the process of "puzzle and its solution".  It also expresses how now a days, we find more commonly, novels that cross specified genre lines and bend specific elements of these categories creating a sense of a blur between transition from one genre to another.  

Misreading the literary evidence in Carol Shields's mystery plots by Wendy Roy

This article gives specific explanations to how the novels written by Carol Shields are seen to be categorized as part of the mystery genre.  It points out flaws in her novels that do not belong to the genre they are specified to be.  This will help me determine specific characterizations of the genre in order to give a more factual interpretation to the topic. 

Wilkie Collins's Sleuths and the Consolations of Detection by Janice Law Trecker 

The mystery novel is known to be as the vigorous modern genre.  This critical essay states  "it is this ultimately hopeful view of human capabilities that has led the mystery to supplant tragedy and to produce a new protagonist." It speaks more in detail about the characters found in this type of genre, and what their personality should be.  

The Mothers of the Mystery Genre by Ward Ian 

This is an assemblage of many different sources.  As a whole, it provided the idea of the importance that the woman has upon the mystery genre.  They have dominated this genre and expanded it to many levels.  It compares the origin of gothic Thrillers to what we now see as the general topic of mystery.  This genre has evolutionized over the years and has created ownership over characteristic that we now correlate to the genre.  This has created a sense of comfort with the reader. 

Mystery fiction on Wikipedia 

Provides a basic definition of the genre accompanied by multiple examples and the historical view of this genre.  It was very difficult to find a source in which the history of the genre was present; this is why I went online to find reliable sources.
