Disco’s Revenge: House Music’s Nomadic Memory: -This Article discuses the main history of house music and “how a DJ- based music genre may be understood as a nomadic archival institution.” This music is usually a combination of one or more recordings put together and recorded with the addition of many effects and remixes.  It is known as being “dance music” and contains many influences of disco music. Finally though in the 1980s, disco house/edm was able to transform itself into its own distinguishable genre.

How the finished product is, is re-actualized into a performance in the hands of the DJ. How we have gone from Vynles to, CDs, MP3s and how all this technology has altered the face of music.

“Waiting for the Bass to Drop”: Correlations Between Intense Emotional Experiences and Production Techniques in Build-up and Drop Sections of Electronic Dance Music -“This study investigates the correlations between theories of intense emotional experiences and production techniques used in electronic dance music.” This is done through the drops and build up that are included in songs to create tension and excitement in the music. One of the biggest purposes of this is to fit in to the “Club experiences.” The article is mainly a study showing how this affects people emotionally.

PARTICIPATORY THEATRE: THE EXPERIENTIAL CONSTRUCT OF HOUSE AND TECHNO MUSIC EVENTS 

This article describes how the relationship between house music and theater could be used to have great shows. House music is said to prokve and emotional response from many, which is also the same goal as most of theaters, therefore, combining them should be beneficial. It also covers a history of house, techno and rave events. Which began in, “African American dance clubs in New York, Detroit and Chicago in the late 1970s and early 1980s.”

This article also discusses the origin of house and its, “provided overnight fuel for the gay awakening of the post-Stonewall period.” This music has evolved over the years into different types, from slower, faster, denser, etc. It was widely ignored for many years until recently when it began to gain much popularity.
