Multimodality is a way for people to stress an opinion or something happening through media, Whether it be a newspaper, short video, or a documentary, it provides an insight for people to see something in a more proactive way. It's a way to communicate in a different way. Modes to me are what you use to get your point across in multi modality. A picture, word, or another way to help you get your point across. Modes are used on many things, such as, a poster you are hanging up around campus that describes something you want people to get involved in. If people see a picture on there, there is a chance they could be more drawn to that poster and will understand what you want them to get involved in more quickly, rather than if you didn't have a picture. The tension between Kress and Wysocki is that they view modes in different ways. Kress' theory is if you use more than one or multiple modes then it gets the point or view you are trying to show someone across easier rather than using just one mode. Wysocki on the other hand believes that its not about how many modes you use but more importantly how you use them and how they go hand in hand with your multimodality. Using modes attracts reader to the main idea or argument, having a mode, such as, a picture in your multimoadality attracts attention to that mode and then the reader views the picture and then develops in interest in reading or watching the main multi modality. Thus this can help people become more involved in what you as a writer are trying to say and also help them understand.
